The Joys of Surgery

Well.....I am six days out of surgery from my abdominal hysterectomy and feeling somewhat human again. What an adventure it has been. I had an allergic reaction to the morphine they injected in my epideral that caused the vomitting to begin in recovery and continue into day three of my hospital stay. (Not a fun thing to do after abdominal surgery) The morphine also caused my face and neck to swell, turn red, and itch like mad! The vomiting continued once I got home as we discovered the only way to make it stop was to not take any kind of pain medication. JOY!

To add to the excitement, Mom fell in the parking lot of the hospital the night of my surgery landing her in the same hospital. She has since then been confined to her bed in Rio Vista. Mom is brusied, her hamspring torn, and she is miserable. Rick, finding himself without the planned support, has been some kind of a miracle worker juggling the kids arounds and caring for me.

The good news...I walked to the mailbox and back today! I read emails! I am writing this blog! I am becoming human once again! Each day will be better than the one before!
